A little about the methodology behind the tests… STREAMING VIDEO TEST The Auckland CBD Britomart location was chosen for this test as both networks’ websites showed 3G coverage in the area. Two new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mobile phones were used in this test. One mobile was supplied by Telecom using a Telecom SIM card, the other was bought from a Vodafone store and used the Vodafone SIM card supplied with the phone. Both mobiles were fully charged at the start of the test, running pre-installed software and on the same Operating System. Prior to the test, both phones had nothing saved to the memory. The search history was cleared on each mobile. The mobile’s YouTube application was used to search ‘Avatar HD’. The time recorded is the time taken from the link being pressed (when it lit up) to the time the first image of the 2m22sec ‘Avatar HD 1080p Trailer’ video appeared on the screen. The test took place at 1.42pm on 23 September 2010 at Britomart Station, downtown Auckland — GPS location 36°50′38.1″S, 174°46′3.37″E. The test was recorded and the times shown here are taken from that recording. The times show the mobile using the Telecom XT network gave a faster result than the mobile phone using the Vodafone network: 2 seconds for Telecom versus 3.76 seconds for Vodafone. Vodafone was only 53% complete when Telecom was 100% complete. Telecom was 1.88 times faster. EMAIL TEST The Nelson Airport location was chosen for this test as both networks’ websites showed 3G

Took the lightened hexacopter down the park this afternoon for some speed and power tests with the EagleTree logger and GPS onboard. Top speed of 80kph!! Not bad :-)

In this video the guys from cnet show you the differences between the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and the Palm Pre. They are comparing the start-up speed, the web browsing and the general speed. GPS Water Test Comparing Goodyear Rawhide III vs. New Avenger (Frontier) 25×12x9″ Tires

Start this RCFreehold episode off with CD’s Stryker doing a speed flutter. You won’t believe how fast it’s actually doing this until you see the full speed clip. Next is the Glider we saw recently, where the motor spun off it on power. This time the motor stays on the plane until the 2nd crash, first one spirals in nice and soft. After that a quick look at my Trex 600 E sans canopy right now, after a crash and torque tube upgrade. Need a canopy standoff post. Just kicking up some dust with the ground effect after our field was whored out to the movie industry and they didn’t both cleaning up. And finally the two speed tests, CD’s Pulse 25e with a Turnigy Motor and 4cell, vs. the Parkzone Habu stock with gear, and the same 40C 4 cell. I’ll let you watch to find out their two speeds. Next speed test with the Habu I’ll take the gear off too. Thanks for watching, hoping to get more speed tests soon too, the Sundowers, and the TURBINE, P60 powered Bobcat. Should be interesting to see what it’s doing, and how high it goes too with the GPS onboard. The garmin gps I bought has software that you can upload to google Earth and see its actual path , height, top speeds and more. I’ll be doing a vid on that soon too. Ronin

Strapped a Garmin Rino 110 Gps to the receiver tray, this is the result :)
