I really want to get a new GPS to use for geocaching, and I’m having a tough time choosing which one to buy. A lot of people say that the 60csx is the best. Why? It can’t even do paperless geocaching! Any suggestions?

www.edmunds.com You’ve got a busy summer ahead. Before setting out on that road trip out West or back East, you’ll have to find time to download some travel music. (We recommend new releases from Common, My Morning Jacket and Weezer.) After that, we’ve got another assignment for you that promises to make your summer trip easier and may enhance your listening habits, too: Get a portable navigation system. Of course, we wouldn’t dream of leaving you out in the cold on such an important decision, so we’re updating last year’s portable navigation system roundup with four new or newly improved portable systems. Since our last portable navigation review, a few of the units we sampled have changed significantly, plus there are two all-new units that seem promising on paper — the Dash Express and Becker Travel Assistant.
We put the NAVIGON Mobile Navigator to the test and here’s what we found. This review follows our first-look at the app a couple weeks ago. Mobile Navigator is a competent turn-by-turn GPS solution that does some things very well, others not so well. Note that this review is of version 1.0, and late last night NAVIGON released version 1.1. I haven’t evaluated this update yet, but from the description it doesn’t seem to affect this review. Specifically version 1.1 does not add text to speech. I’ll do a follow-up, when that feature is added. Like the Internet, GPS is an essential element of the global information infrastructure. GPS technology is found in everything from cell phones and wristwatches to shipping containers, and ATM’s. The system boosts productivity across a wide swath of the economy, to include farming, construction, mining, surveying, supply chain management and more. Major communications networks, banking systems, financial markets, and power grids depend on GPS and the technology is embedded in virtually every US military asset making our armed forces safer and more effective. www.lockheedmartin.com
