I have a garmin nuvi 260 and a 60csx, I have been looking on the garmin website for help with traveling to the baja penisula, but they don’t really provide much detail on the website as to what cities their maps cover. Anyone have any experience with them?
My friend has asked me to help set up their Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx GPS system. It comes with MapSource TOPO Great Britain (v 6.9.1) and more codes than the Enigma device – and however many codes they’ve written down, the website keeps asking for more codes that we don’t have.
MapSource won’t unlock the detail of the maps without a customer registration code (the username, password, unlock certificate code, and serial number won’t do) and having logged on to the website with the user name and password, there’s nothing to help and no way of getting any code sent.
So is there a way of getting some decent maps for free, or of making it unlock the maps by some other means?
Edit: The maps need to be downloaded into the GPS device before it can be used properly, that’s what I’m trying to do.
So I noticed Cabelas is having an incredible sale on the Garmin 60CSx GPS, and I’m wondering why? Is there a new model coming out or something? I had an eTrex that just died on me, and this is almost too good to pass up.

I have downloaded a driver from the Gramin web page and the gps is now connected but it does not get recognized by the mapsource software. With or without the driver installed. Tried all 8 com’s in edit/preferences. I have XP Pro. How do I get these two together?
I bought the Garmin GPSmap 60csx a couple months ago. When I bought it it said it could have maps put on it. THat was WHY I BOUGHT IT >:( So I bought the topo program for my state. Then I called to get topo pocket on my gps but they said NO MAPS WILL GO ON A GARMIN!!!! I am so upset. I didnt pay 400 bucks for nothing. I go in the mountains all the time and need to know where Im at and where the next hill is especially in the wilderness. So I’m stuck here with this stupid garmin that cant have maps ever? WHat a dissapointment.
I have a Garmin 60csx GPS and I was searching for topo maps to buy for it. Do you know of any websites or places where I can buy topo maps for my GPS.
THANKS
Looking for a good gps for hiking and marine use.
Thanks all!
I’m looking for a new GPS for geocaching. Right now I have a Garmin eTrex legend. I am really starting to geocache quite a bit, and I know that i’m going to stay in the sport. I have seen used 60csx’s for 0 and Colorado’s for 0. Do you konw what kind is better? Or if you konw that I can get either of these for a better price? Also, is there another comparable GPS that is better??
Thanks!
I am going to buy a handheld GPS to be used primarily for geocaching along with some car use and maybe hiking.
0 is my limit for the most part with a "small" cushion if absolutely necessary.
I’ve been looking at the Garmin 60CX and the 60CSX and am leaning toward the CSX. My question to you folks is this.
Which would you choose and why??
Is there another you would choose and why??
Thanks!!
So the CX is just the CSX without the Altimeter and Compass?
