Auto GPS Archives

The small GPS systems are too small to see while riding, I am curious if I can just take the GPS system used in cars and mount it on our bike…. it’s a HD Ultra Classic. HD’s GPS are too expensive. Tomtom is too high too.

I know little about global positioning devices and would like to know a bit more about them from somebody who has one or has knowledge of such.
I know they have ones that can show you where you are driving and such but do they have kinds that can track people? I have a daughter whom I’m trying to keep track of and I’m trying to figure out how I can keep a closer eye on her.
How dependable are they? If one exists for my purposes does it show in detail where the vehicle is heading and moving?

looking for something affordable and reliable to avoid using printed directions from the internet.

I don’t travel a lot, but I am looking to take two long range trips next year and would like some opinions.

Thanks

I’d like to know whether it’s possible to get a GPS system when you rent a car. I’m bad with directions & I’ve never driven alone when traveling, so I’m only comfortable renting if I know I’ll have GPS to get me un-lost! My phone doesn’t have this feature. So can I rent a GPS system, or find a company that allows you to rent the system along with the car, or pick only a car that has it built in?

Thanks!
P.S. Yes I know how to work an atlas, and how to print directions, but it’s tough at night on a freeway in an unfamiliar town to keep glancing down at a map to see how close you are to your exit, etc. Not to mention it’s always unsafe to read while driving 65mph or more!

I’m looking for a decent car gps navigation system that’s under or around 0.

It will be replacing my Magellan Roadmate 360, which has some serious issues. First, it doesn’t have retail stores beyond restaurants and gas stations listed in the points of interest database. Second, it requires you to put in the township/district instead of the real city or town name when putting in an address, which is pretty impossible to determine beforehand.

So basically, I’m looking for something with a big points of interest database and easy address input.
It also must have a "most use of freeways" or something similar, because I’ve used GPS systems that take you on dumb local roads instead of interstates when you’re going long distances.

I don’t care about their price difference

What makes one better than another ?
