I’m flying a banner airplane, and want to bring a GPS with me. I have no alternator so having a big fancy colorful screen does NOT help me (changing batteries every 5 minutes sucks). Anyone know a good userfriendly up to date Black and White GPS or battery-friendly GPS that I can bring with me (CHEAP)

(endadget) Don’t panic, but anyone planning on using GPS in the southeastern US for the next month or so will likely want to make sure they have a fallback option. That’s according to a flight advisory just issued by the FAA, which warns pilots that their GPS signal “may be unreliable or unavailable” due to “GPS tests” that the Department of Defense will be conducting between January 20th and February 22nd. Details are fairly light beyond that, but the FAA does note that when the “tests” occur they will be active for 45 minutes, and be followed by 15 minutes of off time — additional notices to pilots will apparently be issued at least 24 hours prior to any test. Of course, while this particular advisory is directed at pilots, it will presumably will also affect all other GPS devices, as the FAA doesn’t mention any GPS issues specific to aviation. I am looking into buying a car navigation system (GPS) but am totally clueless as to what features to look for, as well as what brands/models/prices are "good". Any advice? Any reputable websites or stores that might also be able to help?

What is the power supply of GPS? Electricity or battery. I’m planning to buy a used car. But because I’m not familiar with the roads I will need to buy a GPS. But what is the power supply of GPS? Do all cars have AC/DC to supply GPS? If not, do I need to install it? Any GPS run by battery? Without the GPS I won’t be able to test drive the car and bring it back home (because I’m not familiar with the area).

I am in search of a garmin handheld gps navigator that is a great investment. I want the garmin handheld gps to be easy to use and understand. The garmin handheld gps should be travel friendly and have a max price of 500$ (wont mind a cheaper garmin handheld gps).

A griffon vulture was recently captures in Saudi Arabia and brought to the local authorities for examination. The bird was fitted with GPS systems, marked with Tel Aviv university, thus raised suspicions of espionage. Bandar Bin Saud, the Saudi nature authority has stated that the bird is fitted with systems for pure scientific purposes and that there is no truth behind claims that the poor bird might be a spy. This is not the first instance in which Israel is accused of mossad conspiracy theories. Just a month earlier Israel was blamed by Egypt to be accountable for an increase of shark attacks in the red sea in order to sabotage the country’s tourism.
